Argentine legend will be seen inaugurating the Dhulaiwala palace

Argentine football legend Diego Maradona is set to kick off the football carnival in India during his September 18-19 visit, about a month ahead of Kolkata’s historic date with the FIFA Under-17 World Cup Final.

This will be the 1986 World Cup winner’s second visit to the city after December 2008 when thousands of fans gathered to welcome him past midnight at the airport.

Confirming this in a video-conference call with the promoter of the trip in the wee hours today, the 56-year-old said he is very excited to visit West Bengal after nearly 10 years.

“It is such an honour for me to be able to make this trip. Kolkata is a very special place and I have good memories from my trip there many years ago, the fans were fantastic,” Maradona said.

“India is a very passionate football nation, and I look forward to meeting a whole new generation of fans while continuing to spread the overwhelming love that I have for this beautiful game.”

The two-day visit to the city will be made more special as the icon will play a charity football match against former India captain Sourav Ganguly on September 19, the day of Mahalaya that marks the beginning of Durga Puja festival.

“This will be called the ‘Match for Unity’, and will not be an 11-a-side. We will try to ensure that Maradona remains in the spotlight. Besides Ganguly there will be a host of other celebrities. We are finalising the venue,” Satadru Dutta, who is the partner of 7d Ventures and Founder of Moksh Sports Ventures, the promoter of Maradona’s trip told PTI.

Maradona will also be felicitated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“It will be followed with an award show where Maradona will be given the Lifetime Achievement award by the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee,” Dutta said. “We will also be having a football workshop with budding young talents as well,” he added.

Maradona will also be felicitated by ‘Ami Banglai Dheki Swapno’, a foundation consisting of eminent people of Bengal.

The trip is sponsored by Dhulaiwala, an app-based laundry services as the Argentine legend will be seen inaugurating the Dhulaiwala palace.

Dr Matias Morla, advocate of Maradona said, “We thank Satadru Dutta for making this visit a reality and look forward to have a wonderful time specially during the festive times in Kolkata.”

Pay Attention to Laundering

That tag found on the neck or down the side seam of your shirt is not for decoration: It gives you a garment’s laundering instructions, which are designed to ensure that it stays in great shape.

If you know you hate hand-washing and line-drying, avoid buying clothes that require special care. You’d be better off spending your money on sturdier items. In fact, looking at laundering instructions is part of my shopping process. Even if it’s a steal, a piece that requires dry cleaning could cost more in the long run – especially if you choose to ignore care instructions and end up ruining it.

Some other laundering tips can help keep your clothes in great shape. While you should always check the instructions on the tag, these are some general techniques to keep in mind as you hang out in the laundromat or laundry room.

  • Wash Dark Clothing Inside-Out. Dark-wash jeans, black blouses, and other darker material can become faded in the wash, particularly as it rubs up against other garments. Always launder your washer-safe dark clothes inside-out to ensure they hold their color.

  • Invest in a Clothesline or Drying Rack. If you don’t have a place to line-dry your clothes, they usually end up in the dryer – a death knell for line-dry-only garments. A clothesline only costs a few dollars and it can also help you save on energy costs. If you don’t have the yard or the climate to dry clothes outside, a drying rack for your laundry room is only about few mullah.

  • Wash Metal Separately. Buttons and zippers often find their way into the wash, but can become seriously hot in the dryer, which can lead to scorching and melting on your other clothes. Wash clothing with metal components separately and never with delicate clothes, such as silks or knits.

  • Go Color-Safe. Is there anything more frustrating than ruining clothes with bleach? While it helps make your whites whiter, it can also stain colored clothes and damage delicate fibers. Swap your regular bleach for a color-safe alternative, which is also gentler on fabric.

  • Wash Your Clothes Less. The washing process is famously tough on clothes. Agitating, tumbling, and coming in contact with other garments can leave garments faded, stretched, pilling, and damaged. Unless your outerwear is visibly dirty, you probably don’t need to wash it after each wearing. See if you can extend washing to every other wear, or even three wears, before you toss your garments in the laundry.

  • Get to Know Your Settings. While each make and model of washers and dryers is different, they all have something in common: They come with instruction manuals. Read up on your model so you know when to use “wrinkle release” as opposed to “delicate.” Delicate settings traditionally work well for lingerie, but they’re also effective for clothes that you want to preserve and treat gently. The delicate cycle uses less agitation, so there’s less wear and tear. This setting is perfect for lightly soiled stuff that requires a little extra care, or for items that specify the “delicate” setting on the tag.

Opt For App Based Laundry Service In Kolkata – Dhulaiwala

Life has become a mad rush. People are struggling to find a work life balance. After a tiring day at work, household chores become a burden. You can order food online or through an app. You don’t even have to go shopping for grocery these days with so many new services taking care of this chore and delivery at your doorstep. Then why not get your laundry done in the same way?

Laundry is a time consuming process, right from gathering clothes to washing them separately, depending upon the colors. Then, drying and ironing. Asking maids to wash is not a good option, as even they don’t know much about how to take care of the clothes while washing.

With hectic lifestyles, instead of wasting your precious time doing laundry, you can work on your new project, read a story to your child or you can get a relaxing massage in a spa.

Here are some of the benefits of going for online or app based laundry services:

Respite for the workaholics: Online laundry services are best fit for people who are hard-pressed for time, especially people who have a 9 to 9 job and only have precious weekends to relax. With just one click, one can relax and chill with friends or loved ones instead of doing laundry.

Handling with care: In professionally driven laundry services, branded and expensive clothes are handled by professionals with utmost care. They are trained to clean such clothes to retain their color and quality.

On-time delivery: Online or app base laundry services being just one click away, orders can be placed at your convenience. You can provide a pickup time as well as the delivery time.

Additional services: A professionally driven online laundry service also provides other features like steam pressing, folding and retaining the fragrance of clothes after cleaning.

Opt for e-laundry services if you want an effective, efficient and hassle laundry free experience.

So, go on and layer more than one of these trends to create your own unique look this summer!

Dilemmas of Dry Cleaning

dryclean

They say about clothes that if you can’t stop thinking about it….buy it! I say if you can’t stop thinking about the stain on it…..just dry clean it!

You bought that Gucci top or Armani suit to get it ruined by a glass of wine? No. These are not just clothes which can have a machine wash. These are those priced possessions you bought with lots of hopes and desires. Proper cleaning and care ensures that priceless possession will last longer and remain looking like new throughout its lifecycle.

Selecting the appropriate method may be slightly confusing or difficult. The main consideration for laundering care is the type of fabric being washed.

While dry cleaning is a method designed to cleanse and care for delicate fabric types, a few fabric types cannot withstand the processing associated with dry cleaning. Dry cleaning is a harsh process and not every piece of cloth can withstand it.It employs the use of a chemical cleaning agent which certain materials cannot hold up to.

Typical fabrics that cannot be dry cleaned safely include fabrics containing or made up of plastic, PVC, or polyurethane. Fabrics made of these materials would weaken during the cleaning process.

When do you know what to Dry Clean?

  1. Label is the key: Most of the brands are required to list just one way to clean their product. If the tag says DRY-CLEAN ONLY, just do it. If it says DRY-CLEAN, that means that is the recommendedmethod, not the only method.
  2. Be considerate of the fabric: Some fabrics are delicate and yet the brand doesn’t say you have to dry clean it, so you got to use your sense of fabrics. Silk, acetate, velvet, wool, and taffeta are some of the items which should be ONLY dry cleaned.

Cotton, linen, cashmere, polyester, acrylic, and nylon can usually be machine washed.

But before that, you need to check for colorfastness first: The easy trick to check that is moisten a cotton swab with mild detergent and dab it on a hidden seam to see if any dye comes off.

  1. Detect the detailing: Often care instructions are for the fabric only―not the accents, which may be tacked on at another factory. That’s why you see EXCLUSIVE OF DECORATIVE TRIM on some tags. Before you wash anything with beading, sequins, and the like, make sure they are sewn on (you’ll see stitches, not glue) and colorfast.

Some of the fabric types which needs to be dry cleaned are given following just for your convenience:

  • Items with a lining
  • Items with beading, sequins, and other embellishments
  • Suits, particularly wool suits
  • Items with complicated designs
  • Very soiled or stained items
  • Skirts, dresses, and pants with pleating
  • Delicate synthetics like rayon
  • Fabric blends

Choose the Right Dry Cleaners:Conventional dry cleaners use the chemical perchloroethylene, known as perc, to launder garments. This chemical is released into the air through vents, and can eventually pollute waterways, damage plants and animals, and possibly deplete the ozone layer.

We at WOW Laundry tend to think about the pollution we are creating by using such chemicals and not disposing it off correctly. So we see to it, treat the chemicals before we dispose it in nature. Its our duty to dispose off anything safely which we have created.

Hence we provide introduce dhulaiwala.cleaning to your laundry. I am sure now you’ve overcome the dilemma of choosing your cleaning methods. Look out. Care. Preen. Till then Happy Dry Cleaning.

How to Fold a Dress or Skirt by Dhulaiwala – Sabko Dho Dalaa..

A dress or a skirt needs a special folding technique in order not to wrinkle. Use this method for great results.

How to Fold a Dress

Holding the dress by the shoulders, fold the shoulders back to back.

Fold dress back to back

While holding the shoulders with one hand, find the seaming along the sides of the dress and align them side by side. Now give the dress a good flap to shake out any wrinkles.

Find Seams to Fold Dress

Lay the dress down on your folding table and smooth out the top and the skirt area with your hands.  The dress should now be folded back on itself.

Flat Folded Dress Back to Back

You’ll see that if you just fold the top half down, the skirt is left to go everywhere and it will get wrinkly if you don’t fold it in a different manner.

So to avoid the wrinkle, fold the bottom third of the skirt portion towards the middle and smooth with your hands.

Fold Dress Bottom Third

Now fold the top third of the skirt portion down and smooth with your hands.

Fold Dress Top Third

If the dress is for a toddler girl, simply fold the top of the dress onto the skirt.

Fold Dress in Half

If the dress is for an older girl, it is best to fold in thirds.  After folding the skirt on itself, fold the entire skirt portion towards the middle of the dress and then fold the top portion down to form a nice rectangle.

Fold Dress Towards Middle Folded Dress in Thirds

How to Fold a Skirt

Folding a skirt is just like folding a dress, except easier since there is no top portion to deal with.

While holding the skirt by the waistband, fold it back on itself.

Find the seaming along the side of the skirt and align them side by side.  Give the dress a good flap to eliminate any wrinkles.

Lay the skirt on your folding table and smooth with your hands.

Fold the bottom third towards the middle of the skirt and smooth with your hands.

Fold the top portion towards the middle of the skirt and smooth flat again.

Depending upon the size and length of your drawer, either fold in half or fold in thirds.

Rana & Pandya pulled off a stunning run chase as Mumbai defeated Kolkata by four wickets at the Wankhede Stadium. Chasing 179 runs to win, Rana slammed a counter-attacking 29-ball 50 and Hardik Pandya played a gem of an innings (11-ball 29) to tame Kolkata.

But What Went WRONG?

Inspite of giving a not so huge figure to win, the Kolkata team was more reluctant on the fielding. The last few overs were the turning point of the game. With smashing boundaries & quick singles, Rana & Pandya took out the game for Mumbai. Kolkata team picked wickets at crucial junctures to put pressure on Mumbai but Nitish Rana kept his cool and brought Mumbai back in the match.

Few catch drops and mis-fielding leaded to the Victory and undoubtedly with a tough fight

Safe Pranks For April Fool

A good April Fools’ prank makes everyone laugh, even the person who’s the target of the prank. The key to pulling off a great prank is making sure no one is harmed by it. The following pranks will provide some April Fools’ fun without compromising anyone’s safety.

Home April Fools’ Pranks

Dripping Cup

This one is very simple to set up. Simply take a pin and poke a couple of holes in a plastic cup. Offer the person you want to play the joke on a drink and watch them try to figure out why the liquid is dribbling onto their hand and clothing.

For safety reasons, don’t try this one with hot drinks or with something like grape juice, which can stain clothes.

Elvis Sighting

You can get a good laugh out of anyone by making a far-fetched story appear true. For example, insisting that you’ve been seeing Elvis for the past couple of weeks and hiring an Elvis impersonator to make an appearance at the end of the day could be very funny.

Dollar Drama

For this prank, you will need a dollar bill and a piece of cloth. Place the dollar bill on the floor and position yourself a short distance away. When you see someone bend over to pick up the dollar, rip the piece of cloth at the same time.

Try to avoid giggling as your target tries to check to see how bad the rip in his or her clothing is. Share a laugh with the person by showing them your piece of fabric and ripping it right in front of them and then plan who you can tempt with the dollar bill on the floor next!

School Pranks

Alarm Clock Mystery

If you are looking for a good prank to play on a college roommate, consider setting his or her alarm clock to a time in the middle of the night and then hiding it. Your victim will not only have to deal with bring woken from a sound sleep far earlier than they had planned, but they won’t be able to get the noise shut off right away. If you know the object of your prank has a good sense of humor and you are not particularly concerned about retaliation, take the extra step of unscrewing the light bulb from the closest lamp so that the person will have to search for the alarm clock in the dark.

An Apple for the Professor

Offer a college professor an apple, but not just any old apple. Carefully carve out the core from the bottom of the apple so it doesn’t show, and stuff a few gummy worms inside. When the teacher eats the apple and gets to the core, she’ll have a good laugh.

College for Sale

Pick up some “For Sale” signs from your local home supply store. Place them around campus early in the morning, and include a phony 555 exchange phone number on the sign. This may slightly annoy the staff, but fellow students will get a laugh out of it.

Office Pranks for April Fools’ Day

Before you decide to pull a prank on a coworker, be sure it won’t hurt your reputation or cost you your job. Definitely don’t play a prank on your boss unless you’re positive he or she will find it funny. Some bosses have a better sense of humor than others. Keeping all this in mind, see if one of these prank suggestions might work for you.

Tin Foil Office

Roll of foil

This prank requires only one supply: a whole lot of aluminum foil. You will probably need three or four rolls. To pull it off, wrap everything in a coworker’s office in foil, including office supplies, the desk, the chair and the computer. If you have extra left over, you can even cover the floor and the walls with foil. This part may require some masking tape.

Ping Pong Ball Bonanza

Find a cabinet in the office to fill with ping pong balls without anyone else in the office noticing. It can be hard to stuff them in there without them falling out, so give yourself some time to complete the task either by leaving late the night before or coming in early. Casually ask a coworker to fetch you something out of the cabinet and watch for the startled look on his or her face.

It’s important to use ping pong balls as opposed to heavier balls, like golf balls. Using heavier balls could cause someone to get hurt.

Office Skip Day

Remember senior skip day in high school? Stage a (fake) one at the office. Talk to your coworkers and see if you can get everyone to agree to call in sick on April Fools’ Day. Don’t do so until the early morning so the boss gets a huge surprise heading into an empty office. Before he or she gets too upset, have everyone show up together, perhaps with a tray of donuts frosted to read “April Fool!”

Balloon Cubicle

If your office consists of cubicles with walls that don’t reach all the way to the ceiling, seal off the entrance to a coworker’s cube with plastic sheeting. Once that’s done, drop some items in the cube, filling it up from the top, like you would a swimming pool. Instead of using water, which could ruin electronic equipment and lead to electric shocks, pick a safer material, such as balloons, Styrofoam peanuts, shredded paper or soda cans.

Take a Message

This prank is one that is designed to be played in an office, and you will need several participants to make it work. Get a number of people to call a particular coworker on April 1 to ask for someone named “Harold,” “Fred” or another name you have chosen. At the end of the workday, have another accomplice call the target of your prank and identify himself as Harold or Fred and ask if there are any messages for him.

Pranking Safety Tips

Think It Through

Spur of the moment pranks have a way of turning out badly, so begin planning your prank well in advance of April Fools’ Day. This includes picking out the right person to prank, as well as deciding which prank you’re going to play.

Avoid Potentially Dangerous Pranks

Bad choice for an office prank

Some pranks may seem harmless and then get completely out of hand. For example, putting globs of Vaseline on a friend’s windshield may seem like some harmless fun, but when he turns on his windshield wipers, the Vaseline will cover the entire windshield. This prank can result in a car accident which will hurt your friend and possibly other people on the road.

Don’t Play Mean Pranks

To be clear, mean isn’t funny, so don’t go there. Don’t try to pull off any fake breakups, death notices, or anything that causes hurt or distress because these kinds of pranks might inspire someone else to do something drastic with tragic results.

Try the Prank Before You Play It

Don’t just set up your prank and wait to see how it will turn out. Try it out yourself before you try it on someone else. That way you can make sure it’s truly safe.

Make Sure Everyone Has Fun

Harmless April Fools’ Day pranks can make this day fun and memorable. Choose your target wisely to make sure that he or she can appreciate that joke and enjoy the fun as well. Be warned, though; you may find yourself on the receiving end of a prank next April 1.

Make Your Saree Last Forever

Draperies can susceptible to a wide variety of problems, ranging from shrinkage and fading to stains and abrasion damage. Too often we only think of cleaning draperies after they’ve been framing our windows for a few years. Sometimes problems can develop over time while they are just hanging there, doing their job of beautifying out homes.

What problems are associated with draperies?

Because draperies are exposed to atmospheric conditions in greater concentrations and for longer periods of time than most garments and textiles, they can encounter a number of problems. Often these problems do not become evident until the item has been drycleaned or washed.

Some of the more common problems associated with draperies are damage due to light exposure; poor colorfastness; yellowing due to the deterioration of finishes or soil accumulation; water marks; shrinkage; abrasion damage; and deterioration of the coating or lining during cleaning. Some of these problems are a result of defects in manufacturing.

Others, however, such as damage due to light exposure, yellowing due to soil accumulation, water marks, and abrasion damage, can usually be attributed to circumstances of use.

What can you do to make your draperies last?

The American National Standards Institute’s Fair Claims Guide for Consumer Textile Products gives the following life expectancies for draperies: • Lined Draperies 5 years • Unlined Draperies 4 years • Sheer Draperies 3 years • Fiber Glass Draperies 4 years.

How long a drapery lasts depends on the fabric type and density, finishes, window location, and length of use. But it also depends on their selection and the care they receive. Here are some tips to help you keep your draperies looking great:

• To protect drapes against yellowing due to excess staining and soiling, clean the drape at least once a year.

• It is best that you have your drapes cleaned by a cleaner who is experienced in the cleaning of drapes and is knowledgeable in drapery problems.

• Protect drapes from prolonged dampness. Moisture from rain, leaky pipes, or condensation from window panes can result in water marks and mildew.

• If possible, rotate draperies periodically to vary the amount of light exposure received.

• Protect drapes from abrasion damage by avoiding constant rubbing on window sills or furnishings while in use. Abrasion damage can also be caused by a family pet snagging the fabric with sharp claws.

• Keep draperies away from the kitchen, wood stoves, or fireplaces. Smoke from wood stoves, fireplaces, and cigarettes; cooking fumes; and other atmospheric contaminants can contribute greatly to drapery soiling.
